2007 Mayakoba Classic Winners
American Fred Funk was the inaugural 2007 Mayakoba Golf Classic winner.
He won on the second hole of a playoff with Argentine Jose Coceres, becoming only the second golfer ever to win a PGA Tour event after also having won the Champions Tour. Funk also won the Mexico Open in 1993.
The 51-year-old led the tournament after setting a course record with an 8 under 62 in the first round. He closed with a 1 over 71 to match Coceres (69) at 14 under 266 to claim the winner’s $630 000 purse. It was his eighth PGA Tour victory.
Australian Peter Lonard birdied the final hole for a 67 to finish third at 13 under. Ryan Armour (66) followed closely with 12 under and Bill Haas (67) finished at 11 under.
